"My struggle through Garret Mountain"

I run Cross County as you can see, but let me tell you it's not easy as one, two, three
My team and I run at Darlington Park and Garret Mountain
After each race you can find me near the water fountain

Garret Mountain is definitely the worst course out of the two
I remember the first time I ran it this year, it was to hard to subdue
It was the 12th of September, a day my legs can remember because of the pain they went through
Runnnig up hill and down hill, in the woods, and on rocky terain...
I suddenly started to think that people who did this sport were insane

As I run to the finish, I get a buzz kill
The last 800 meters of the race was all up hill
"Heart Break" hill is what they call it
And let me tell you it breaks way more than hearts

My poor legs felt like they were being ripped apart
As I force myself up the hill, scraping up grass as I pass
I finally reached the finish line, thank God victory at last.

  1. I like your writing style and Garret Mountain seems really difficult to run! It must have been a really great feeling to have reached the finish line c:

  2. I give soooo much props for doing cross country! I can barely run two laps at the track. This sounds horrible but congrats on making it!

  3. Your rhymes are so cute, I had fun reading your poem. I have so much respect for you for running cross country - it is such a physical and mental sport I don't know how people do it. Great job you go girl!
